Advertising rules by profession
Dentists: Are HZZO practices allowed to advertise?
Under the HKDM Rules on advertising by Chamber members (2019), the rules are the same for all doctors of dental medicine, whether they have an HZZO contract or not.
Online advertising is expressly permitted (Art. 10) and does not require approval from the Chamber committee. Websites, directories and social networks fall into that category.
Radio and television advertising, misleading claims, claims of superiority over colleagues and advertising prices below the Chamber minimum are prohibited.
Doctors: What rules apply to general practice, gynecology, pediatrics and others?
All medical professions (general practice, gynecology, pediatrics, physical medicine, ophthalmology, occupational medicine, dermatology) are regulated by the Croatian Medical Chamber.
Under the Rules on advertising by private-practice physicians (NN 83/1997), an advertisement must contain the physician name, professional title, type of activity, opening hours and address. The content must comply with the Code of Medical Ethics.
Allowed: online presence, web directories, informational content with contacts and opening hours. Prohibited: street-poster advertising, self-promotion and claims of superiority over colleagues.
Pharmacies: Are pharmacies allowed to advertise?
Pharmacy advertising is regulated by the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists through the Rules on pharmacy advertising.
Allowed: advertising pharmacy services, online presence, informational content with address, opening hours and contacts.
Prohibited: advertising incentives for buying medicines, coupon campaigns and participation in sponsored broadcasts.
Psychologists: What rules apply to psychologists?
Advertising by psychologists is regulated by the Croatian Psychological Chamber through the Rules on advertising by psychologists in private psychological practice.
Allowed: online presence, web directories and informational content in line with the Chamber ethical code.
Advertising content must be truthful, professionally grounded and must not mislead the public.
